The Charles B. Washington Branch Library is part of the Omaha Public Library and serves the North Omaha residents in Douglas County. Established in December 1921, the formerly North Branch Library was renamed after Charles B. Washington in 1986 to recognize his work with young people in north Omaha. As part of the Library System, it contributes resources to its collections, currently maintained at 704,256 volumes on hand and approximately 3 million items in annual circulation. It provides meeting and study rooms, computers, free WiFi, bike racks, and print, copy, scan, and fax services. Charles B. Washington Branch Library offers storytime events, a quilting club, book discussions, computer classes, camaraderie, and other library programs.
