The Bear Public Library serves 23,070 residents in the City of Bear and is a part of the New Castle County Library in Delaware. The New Castle Libraries maintains 749,185 volumes and circulates approximately items per year. These include print books, eBooks, audiobooks, music, magazines, databases, and movies. Opened in 1988, Bear Library is housed in a 25,000-square-foot building with over 135,000 items in collection. It is a publicly funded and managed library, and is open to the public on Mondays through Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. It also offers meeting and study rooms, public access computers, 3D printing, and programs such as ESL, GED, Arts & Crafts, Literacy, Storytime, and Tech Maven.
